Last Saturday I hosted my first ever Christmas dinner party called Tinsel & Turkey. It was a total blast and all the food was phenomenal. Everyone brought a side and there was more than enough. We had 30 friends show up and if there was a single guest more we wouldn't have been able to fit in the room! It was so wonderful seeing our friends all together before we leave. We are so lucky to have so many great friends here in Utah, in fact that is what I'll miss the most when we leave. In the words of A.A. Milne "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard". Never truer words spoken. Anyway, this was my first turkey ever to cook and I was in a panicky mode about it the 24 hours leading up to the party. It turned out great, but I can't take credit because my sister and mom gave me the instructions and recipe. I only called them 4 or 5 times to verify every step I was doing. Haha. It was such a yummy turkey and lemme tell ya those Reynolds oven bags make all the difference. Below is Grandma Jensen's cranberry relish recipe which I also made, and some photos of the party...I apologize for the quality of the photos I was running around like crazy at the party the last few minutes before it started! Regardless, I think this dinner party will be annual tradition for Trevor and I!
Grandma Jensen's Cranberry Relish:
2 lbs cranberries, raw
2 oranges, ends cut off but do not peel
1 lemon, ends cut off but do not peel
2 red delicious apples, cored and peeled
2.5 cups of sugar (you can sub for honey, agave, or dates)
Pulse in a blender or food processor until it becomes a relish consistency.
